Space Jam 2 is coming! It is the sequel of Space Jam, a basketball-based movie starring Michael Jordan, a cult-classic. The movie brought us classic moments such as the MonStars, Bugs Bunny forming the Tune Squad, and Jordan subtly telling the world he’s returning to the NBA. For a long time, a sequel has been rumored. Most fans would agree if there is a sequel, LeBron James is the star that can take on the role.

As seen with numerous tweets and photos, Space Jam 2, starring James is a reality. The movie is set to be released on July 16, 2021. Most fans doubt this upcoming sequel, thinking that it will not compare to the original. In order for Space Jam 2 to become a success, these moments should be included in the film:

Space Jam 2: Scenes That Should Be Included For Success

James Meets Jordan

Space Jam 2 should have a nostalgic moment included. The perfect moment would be Jordan making an appearance and meeting James. Jordan could “pass the torch” to James somewhere in the film and give him a vote of confidence. James stated his idol is Jordan. That moment will not only tug at the heart-strings of the audience but could be a milestone in James’ career.

Team LeBron vs. Team Jordan

In the first film, Jordan went against aliens to regain his peer’s talents. In Space Jam 2, Jordan could form his own team to take on James’ team in the ultimate game. Jordan could call on a couple of players who appeared in the last film such as Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Larry Bird. Also, Jordan and his team could magically turn into their prime selves. James’ team could include Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson, who were on the set of Space Jam 2. The teams could play for either bragging rights or dominance over the NBA. The magical, alien form of the old legends would pay homage to the original film.

LeBron James Announces His Retirement

In Space Jam, Jordan announced his comeback to the NBA. In the sequel, James could use the film to announce his retirement. He will be close to the end of his contract in 2021. Also, he will be 36 years old by the release date. This past NBA season, James dealt with a groin injury and he has a lot of mileage on his body. James could be in the twilight of his career. This moment will be a stronger possibility if the Lakers win a title before the film is released.

Bronny James Era

Just like Jordan passing the torch to James, it will be touching to see James pass the torch to his son. James Jr. will be almost 17 years old in 2021. He is expected to declare for the NBA early, whether he plays one year in college or the NBA repeals the age limit. Many expect James Jr. to become a great player just like his father. He already has a smooth and polished game and will continue to grow. This might not happen in the film given that he will not be eligible at the time of the film’s release. But working a variation of this scene will definitely set the film onto bigger heights.

Space Jam Shoes

Space Jam saw the release of Jordan’s signature shoe. They are arguably Jordan Brand’s most popular shoe. Space Jam 2 should include a new signature shoe from James. The shoe design should be a variation of the Space Jam Jordans. James’ shoes are among the most popular in the NBA. Nike will definitely have items ready to promote throughout the film.

Space Jam 2 > Space Jam 1?

The big question still remains. Will the sequel be better than the first? There’s a lot about the film that is a mystery. We do not know the plot nor the other actors yet. But, the sequel does have the opportunity to be better. James is a better actor than Jordan. The graphics and animation will be light-years ahead. The film will include more pop culture and feature all-star players. Space Jam 2 will outsell the first and will be held in higher regard. James and his camp are very media-savvy. They know how to sell ideas.
