NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins is waiting for Kawhi Leonard’s Decision

Outside of Kawhi Leonard, another big name left in the Free Agency market is center, DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is still a free agent and yet to make a decision. He reached the NBA Finals last season with the Warriors, but now, he’s unsure where he will go next. There are rumors that Cousins is waiting for Leonard to make his decision before he makes his own.

Now that the Golden State Warriors have signed Willie Cauley-Stein, it looks like Cousins will not return to the Warriors. Cauley-Stein is a young center with a lot of potential and was a former teammate of Cousins with the Sacramento Kings. Cauley-Stein is likely to be Golden State’s starting center next season.

Cousins’ name has been linked to many teams this offseason and according to rumors, he was even interested in coming back to Sacramento. But now, his future looks uncertain.

While Cousins is still looking for a new home, there are rumors that he is waiting on Kawhi Leonard’s decision before he signs with a new franchise. ESPN’s Tim Bontemps said that Cousins wanted to play for the Los Angeles Lakers and he is looking at the Leonard situation to confirm his chances to land in L.A.

Adrian Wojnarowski said that Cousins has no real market as a free agent. Before his Achilles injury, Cousins was considered to be a max player. Now, Cousins now has become a player who is not getting any interest.

It’s hard for him to see him in this kind of situation when the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers have the cap space to sign him. The Warriors could even still bring him back. But it looks like those teams are not interested in him anymore.

Now, Cousins is monitoring what Leonard will do. If Leonard signs with the Lakers, Cousins will not be able to. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams that can give him a solid contract, and if they miss on Leonard, maybe they will pull the trigger.

Cousins’ destination remains one of the biggest mysteries of Free Agency.
