NBA Trade Deadline: Players to Watch

The NBA Trade Deadline is right around the corner. With that said, there are a number of players who are available who could have new homes soon. However, which players are the ones who could make the most headlines and benefit a new team the most? These are the three key players to keep an eye on as the trade deadline draws near.

NBA Trade Deadline Player to Watch #1: Kevin Love

Kevin Love has made it very clear that he is frustrated with the direction of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization. It has also been heavily speculated that he wants to go to Portland, which is in his home state of Oregon. Whether or not he is going to the Trail Blazers is a different matter, but if Cleveland does trade Love, they should still get a nice return for the All-Star big man. Love can still benefit a contender as a third option and would provide great spacing with his ability to shoot the ball. The only problem is his big contract, which could deter contenders who are already strapped paying their own stars. Regardless, Love is the premier target of this year’s NBA Trade Deadline. Teams who could be a good fit for Kevin Love would be Portland, Los Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix Suns.

NBA Trade Deadline Player to Watch #2: Jrue Holiday

Jrue Holiday is one of the most interesting players available this season. He has an All-Star appearance on his NBA resume and is a nitty-gritty player that could benefit any team. His two-way play has been a staple for the New Orleans Pelicans for years now, but it is clear that both sides are headed in different directions. With that said, many teams are clamoring for the services of the veteran combo guard. Teams who should be calling the Pelicans about Holiday are the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, and the Miami Heat.

Player #3: Andre Drummond

The Detroit Pistons seem like they are ready to move on from their three-time rebounding champion, Andre Drummond. It was heavily rumored earlier this season that the Atlanta Hawks were interested in the two-time All-Star’s services. However, with the recent acquisition of Clint Capela, The Detroit Pistons are in no-man’s land as they are a team who is not quite ready for the playoff picture, but not bad enough to be in position for a top-three draft pick. Therefore, a change needs to be made (they are also potentially shopping Derrick Rose.) Teams who would be a good fit for Drummond include the Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks, and the Boston Celtics.

Watch for these three players to maybe change teams in the next couple of days. Out of the pool of players on the trade block, these three will benefit from and, in turn, benefit their new teams the most.
