The Sacramento Kings have sure had a rough go within the past decade. From being mismanaged to stars leaving or being traded, the team is dying for some form of success. The team has tasted legitimate success since the early 2000s when they had the likes of Chris Webber, Jason Williams, and Mike Bibby.

Luckily for Kings fans, they do have one thing they can smile about. Actually, they have a couple of things to be excited about when one really thinks about the state of the Sacramento Kings. Not only they possess a promising backcourt in Buddy Hield and De’Aaron Fox, but they also have some pretty nice uniforms. As a matter of fact, one of their jerseys is the most underrated in the league. Let’s take a look in more detail.

Sacramento Kings: The Black Statement Jerseys

When Nike took over as the uniform sponsor, the format of the jerseys changed. Now, teams no longer have a home and away set of uniforms. There is now an association, statement, and city edition of uniforms. The association and statement jerseys seem to serve the same role as the home and away jerseys did for Adidas and Reebok whereas the city edition is special alternate ones that are different each season. For the Sacramento Kings, they have a solid overall color scheme. Their colors are purple, black, and white as most novice NBA fans know. The color scheme seems ambitious, yet simple at the same time which makes for a great recipe.

However, the black statement jerseys are one of the best in the league. They do not get enough credit which is a shame since this could most likely be attributed to the fact that Sacramento is considered a team in no man’s land. Not only does the jersey look sharp on the court, but it can also be rocked by the casual fan hanging out on the street and is sure to get compliments. It’s crazy that this jersey does not pop up more in people’s top part of their list when ranking modern NBA styles. After all, the style still takes inspiration from the early 2000s when the team played in the same colors, but with different lettering and font. Where would it rank out of all the jerseys in the league right now though?

Where the Jerseys Rank

For me personally, I would rank these uniforms in the top 10 of jerseys for the current NBA season. Keep in mind, this is out of ALL the styles which include association, city, and even some throwback jerseys. They are not quite the best as some of the city jerseys out there are absolutely insane to top stylistically. However, it is time to give the Sacramento Kings some credit. Their black statement jerseys are actually one of the best in the whole NBA.
